It's taken me awhile to write a post because I have been quite busy at work. They were not kidding when they said I would jump off the deep end and into design. This morning I was working on a label for an envelope with a limited edition print inside. I was channeling old museum labels (has to do with the photograph/book it's from). The following are photographs I picked up in my internet trolling.
After the great power cord fire of 2010 rendered my old ibook null, I was without a laptop for a little while (boo hoo I know). Luckily my ghetto PC laptop has recently been brought back to life (meaning: 1000 viruses removed) and with it all my early design work. It was so weird to open up CS2, but I found what I made the very first time I understood the pen tool. It also features every first year designer's favourite font: Futura. I remember starting to work on this while the sun was still out and getting so into it that when I was finished it was night and I hadn't even noticed. That was when I knew 100% that design was the right choice, and things were going to get interesting from thereon out.
This week continues to be as hectic and surprising as the last, but definitely in a good way. Throughout this entire year I have kept a postcard on my desk, sometimes propped against the monitor, sometimes buried under business cards and scribbled roughs, just now I fished it out from behind a questionable mock up of a toothpaste box. Regardless, it has been around and often within eyesight throughout this year. I think I'll take it with me when I move. It's called "Half-Brother (Exit to Nowhere - Machiavellian)" by Mark Wallinger. It's an impressive oil on canvas at the Tate Modern.
I know that it is terrible that I don't know who to credit this image to, but I just recently remembered my love for it. I've actually stolen this off a friend's facebook profile picture. I think my original comment sums up how I will always feel about this image: "I'm scared I'm going to wake up blind because god knows I will never see anything that makes me as happy as again".
To whoever made this mind-blowingly amazing image: I submit myself to your will oh godly one.
It's been a crazy, crazy week. Definitely good crazy, but also meaning I had zero time. So all I have to say for now is: look at this table that I saw on the Clean and Creative Blog. I will also let them describe it for you.
